There are actually two "inventors" listed,, one Robert S. Burnside (Fayetteville, Tx., shown at right) and the other Jerry W. Beisel (Dallas, Tx., shown if you expnad the +1 at the link). I have no idea who they are, but if you want to see the patent application you can use this link to read the entire description of what they are trying to patent:
US Patent and Trademark Office
It's not computer code. But this is a link to the fulltiltpoker.com page where they claimed this very patent, which, one assumes, they paid money for. The implication has always been you can only get Rush at FTP because they invented and patented it.
But who are those Texas guys? And what exactly is it that might be patented? Not the software. Unless there is some other patent claim FTP filed under one of it's identities or was filed by whoever wrote the software.
This is the image of the first page of the explanation of the "invention:"
There are a few more pages that are similar. I don't claim to understand patent law, I'm just wondering exactly what it is Mr. Tapie thinks he is sinking 200m dollars into, exactly?
Sure, if he opens FTP under new management and possibly a new name, people will play "Rush" poker there. Possibly the name is trademarked. But it's only going to be of real value if it cannot be duplicated elsewhere and if he can enforce patent worldwide, assuming the patent is ever approved.
The Scumbag Report....
I previously pointed out how odd Dwan's behavior has been in terms of the timing of his BR disappearing from Full Tilt and coinciding with his extended travel out of country, beginning with the USO Poker Tour in midApril, 2011. Now, I see as I scan the 2+2 "containment" thread FTP Discussion Thread (Everything but big new news goes here. Cliffs in OP) which at 722 pages and counting (10,800 + posts) has long passed the epic stage into the apocalyptic era, they have finally figured out that those FTP pros might not be as innocent and admirable as we all once thought.
This time it's Patrick Antonius who has taken the stage, having given an interview on Poker Tube, Antonius in Cannes, posted by ulken, where he says nothing of any significance to an interviewer who asks almost no questions for almost 9 minutes. The interviewer then asks if there are former American online players in his highstakes cash games, not actually mentioning Full Tilt, it's Patrick himself who first brings up the Full Tiltr name, not answering the question buy t instead saying he is not playing online because he is waiting to see what happenes.
At this, the Interviewer, apparently walking on eggshells in the Interview, just says, it's a hard situation knowing "..what you should say ... what do you think?"
Patrik has the perfect out supplied to him by this interviewer: just say you can't say much and move on. But Patrik, who has been completely coy about giving any info at all about his high stakes live cash games and opponents, now launches into a speech about himself and Full Tilt, unasked and unpressured:
PA:"Obviously I had nothing to do with management or anything, obviously, so I just had a marketing contract and it feels like for me that I'm - a person who reads the news about what's happening and this and that, they know much more than I do - - Nobody talks to me so I'm like the last to person to know whatever comes to the news - "
Obviously.
So, the interviewer finally asks an actual question: "Have you been trying to find out or have you been chasing them or...?"
PA:" Well, I did call Howard the beginning of summer and I was supposed to meet him but then I was too busy - - I don't even know if he came to Vegas - and, um, that was early June, before they lost their license - "
INTERVIEWER: "So it's been a bad day for you..."
A bad day? Which day? Now PA gets to the meat of what he apparently wanted to get on the record, besides the fact, obviously, that he had nothing to do with management. Obviously. And that he never talked to Howard, ever, and that never includes WAY before they lost their license. Early June. Srsly. He doesn't even know if Howard was in town, even. He's clueless, yanno. He just wants to share his bad beat story:
PA: "It's been very bad, some people think that I've been benefiting with the contracts and stuff - I - - I'm going to end up being one of the biggest losers with this if Full Tilt goes down, I had a lot of money stuck on there - "
INTERVIEWER: Not only personally -
PA"I'm going to end up being a big minus even if you take my salary what they paid me for a coupla years - ...... It's like I don't know anything and it's gonna hurt me big time financially - I was - I'm very upset - one of the most upset persons but there hasn't really been any reason for me to publish anything or do interviews or something like I would assume everybody - like everybody should assume that I had not a little thing in the management part."Poor baby. So before anyone can figure out why someone that upset was too busy to see Howard six weeks after Black Friday (although he probably wasn't even there, anyway) enter Noah SD of Subject:Poker and 2+2 Mod fame posts in the thread at post #10349:
Eh.. I'll post this because that interview pissed me off: Antonius has less than $100 in his FTP account, and he owes FTP a smallish amount. While I don't know the source of his info, I do know unlike most bandwidthburners, his sources are good. Meanwhile, at post #10361Already.Dead posts an image from one of the tracking sites showing PA earned 1.3 million on FT between Black Friday (4/15/20011) and June 29th. So what happened to the money? Why does Patrik have less than $100 in his account?
Re-enter Patrick with an interview he gave to Matthew Showell of Poker Listings. So, apparently PA reads 2+2 because he's all upset Noah outed his BR amount. But let's be honest before we delve into his story here, he certainly gave the impression with "I had a lot of money stuck on there..." that his BR was in his account and frozen like everyone else's. Once it was pointed out that this was not the case, he confirmed he has less than $100 in his account. You can read the article at the links, I'm going to excerpt some of his statements:
PA: “Full Tilt would not let me cash out after Black Friday,” he said.“My manager and I were trying to contact them about why I wasn’t getting cashed out and they just kept telling us there were problems."Now wait just a minute here. Did this guy, just like, two days before, when asked if he had "been trying to find out" by the Poker Tube interviewer blow it off and say he tried to call Howard at the beginning of the summer but couldn't find time to meet with him? Yet, now, both he and his manager were trying to contact "them" about not cashing out? So he can't get anyone to tell him anything, but he keeps playing. Then he says:
PA:“So because I was going to be in the USA for the World Series of Poker I transferred what I had to people that wanted the online money, then the entire site went down and noone could get their money off.Ummmmmm....HUH? Wait. You were going to the WSOP. You knew nothing whatsoever about the impending total shut down of FTP. But you transferred everything you had but pocket change out of your FTP account.... WHY?
Possibly because after the WSOP you never expected to be able to play on FTP again, knew you would never get the money off, so you won't need a BR and thought you could stiff a bunch of other players by sending them money and getting them to pay you cash offline, you freaking scumbag, angle-shooting lowlife?
FSAL says he's going to lose 5 mil. I hope anyone he shifted money to hoping to con them out of their hard-earned cash, if the Tapie deal goes through and they are offered pieces of the new site, will take him up on it and use FSAL's money to make themselves millions.
